SPECIMEN COLLECTION REQUIREMENTS

Preferred Specimen:

***Must be collected in a Royal Blue K2EDTA tube

***2mL plasma in METAL-FREE transport container  PLUS 2mL RBCs in ORIGINAL Royal Blue tube or transferred into a METAL-FREE transport container.

Please parafilm the original tube for transportation after removal of plasma

Rubberband specimens together to prevent specimens from getting separated

Reject:  Specimens collected in tubes other than Royal Blue (K2EDTA), Plasma and RBCs transferred into containers other than metal-free containers, clotted specimens, or grossly hemolyzed specimens.
