Container/Tube: Blood Gas Syringe (Heparinized)
Preferred: Venous Whole Blood
Specimen Volume: 1.0 mL
SPECIMEN PROCESSING and HANDLING
Effort should be made to ensure that collection devices are completely filled per the recommendation of the manufacturer to ensure a correct blood to heparin ratio.
TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE
Whole blood should be analyzed within 15 minutes of collection. Storing samples on ice is not recommended as it may elevate the PO2 result.
