SPECIMEN PROCESSING and HANDLING

Urine specimens acidified after collection to a pH <2.0 to dissolve calcium salts by adding 10 mL of 6M HCL per 24-hour specimen (1 – 2 mL for a random specimen) to prevent calcium salt precipitation.
