Specimen Requirements

Stool specimens should be collected in clean, dry plastic containers as soon after onset of symptoms as possible (3-5 days after onset of symptoms).  Alternatively, approximately 30-50 mg of stool specimen may be submitted on a dry CultureSwab containing no transport medium. 

For infants and young children, a sample may be obtained from a solied diaper, if necessary.
