SPECIMEN PROCESSING and HANDLING

Complete clot formation should take place before centrifugation. A maximum limit of two hours from the time of collection is recommended. Serum or plasma should be separated from red cells promptly because erythrocytes contain phosphate concentrations several times greater than those found in the serum.
