Test Code HEPBSAG Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg Qual)

Important Note

Please note the following interpretations for this test:

Non-Reactive: Specimens with HBsAg levels <1.00 S/CO are considered Non-Reactive and presumed negative for HBsAg.

Reactive: Specimens with HBsAg levels >1.00 S/CO but < 140 S/CO are considered initially Reactive, presumed positive for HBsAg and must be retested in duplicate. Specimens that are repeatedly > 1.00 S/CO (i.e. at least 2 out of 3 results) are considered repeatedly Reactive and presumed positive for HBsAg*. Specimens with HBsAg levels <1.00 in both replicates at the retest are considered Non-Reactive and presumed negative for HBsAg. Specimens that are repeatedly Reactive for HBsAg >1.00 but <140 S/CO must be evaluated with the LIAISON XL MUREX HBsAg Confirmatory Test. Specimens with HBsAg levels at initial testing >140 S/CO are considered Reactive and presumed positive for HBsAg, and no further testing is required. *See clinical study for details on confirmatiory testing requirements. Note: When the LIAISON XL MUREX HBsAg assay is used as a stand-alone assay (for example in pregnant women being screened in identify neonates who are at risk for acquiring HBV during the perinatal period), it is suggesed that the LIAISON XL HBsAg Confirmatory assay be used to confirm the result.
