Test Code CALCIUMIONIZED Ionized Calcium

Important Note

Whole Blood Lithium Heparin- Stability 2 hours at ambient temperature; 4 hours refrigerated as long as the cap has not been opened

Place heparinized syringe or unspun green top tube and transport immediately to lab.
For Green Top (PST) tubes - Do not remove cap and fill completely. As long as the cap has NOT been removed, spun tubes are acceptable for 8-hours at ambient temperature or 24-hours  refrigerated.

If submitting with any other assay, please submit a separate tube for this test.

If unable to centrifuge at your location, CALL FOR STAT COURIER PICKUP.

 

Specimen Requirements

Preferred Container/Tube: Green Top Tube  (lithium heparin anticoagulant)
Specimen Type: Whole Blood

Whole blood must be analyzed within 2 hours of collection at RoomTemperature and 4 hours refrigerated as long as the specimen has not been exposed to air.
 

 

Acceptable Container/Tube: Lithium Heparin Green Top (PST)
Specimen Type: Plasma
Specimen Minimum Volume: 1.0 mL

Centrifuge and Do not open the tube or split the specimen. Do not freeze separator tube. Do not expose specimen to air at any time during collection or transport process.  Keep specimen anaerobic-do not aliquot. Transport plasma in original separator tube.
